Dear Reader,
In fits of boredom, I have scoured the interwebs (mostly Facebook/ Reddit, tbh) to find a great frustration plaguing future bloggers. The frustration can be summed up in one simple sentence: I want to blog, but I don’t know how to start.
I know that feeling well. It was 2018 when I first seriously became interested in blogging. Fresh out of grad school and seriously underemployed, I wanted to start a blog documenting all of the ways that I managed to make a little extra money on the side. However, this blogging idea never came into fruition and I held off on blogging altogether until more than one year later.
Starting things can be hard, but sometimes just starting, even unconfidently, can be better than nothing.
In my book “Year of the Blog: How to Achieve Your Life’s Purpose in 5 Steps and 365 Blog Posts,” I write about my struggles starting and maintaining CuriousWordsBlog.com. I know what it’s like to start something and then want to instantly trash it. Through my book, I hope you will be encouraged to write what you feel and feel inspired to follow through on your goals.
Contrary to what people may say, I do not believe that writing comes easily to anyone. Anyone who can easily put words onto the page has been doing so for a long while (even if only as a hobby). Even teens who complete their first novels have likely been writing since early childhood (that’s like 10 years’ experience!!). When it comes to writing, everyone has to start somewhere and EVERYONE will get better with practice.
If you are looking to start your blog this year, but don’t know where to start — stop thinking about where to start and instead consider when to start (**cough** right now **cough, cough**). Write about what you feel; what you see; what you cannot stop thinking about. The more you write, the easier it will be to develop your voice and figure out the topics that you want to blog about. Check out “Year of the Blog” now for more tips (also, free with Kindle Unlimited for a short time 🙂 ).
You can do it, dear Blogger! You can do it LITERALLY right now 😉
Love,
Raven
Great share with the Year Of The Blog 🙂
Also, great encouragement for those who want to start, but aren’t sure where to begin. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and tips!
